In my humble opinion, I thought his lyrics were pretty cut and dry. But that's just me. I am not the media trying to make another story out of Michael Jackson to make money or to thrust myself into the lime light. If I wanted to do that, I would attempt to do it based on my own talent not by becoming one of the many Michael Jackson leeches out there that used him as their catalyst.
Remember when this song first came out in 1995 and the media had a field day accusing Michael Jackson of being anit-semetic?? REALLY?? Michael Jackson anti-semetic?? Doesn't he have friends from all cultures that are at very high places within the entertainment industry? Did they not defend Michael in saying that Michael was the last person on earth to even be considered a racist?
Mind you, this album directly followed his child allegations and his marriage to Lisa Marie, so the media just saw it as one more thing to throw into the fire. In my previous blog, it has been proven that from the time of "Bad" the media just started making up stories about Michael Jackson, because they saw that they could get away with it and make more money.
Just for the record VH1: his "world premire" of "They don't care about us" came out 15 years ago in 1995. THIS IS NOT NEW!! WHERE WAS YOUR PUBLICITY AND LOVE THEN???
TOO LITTLE TOO LATE, MY FRIENDS.
Now let's dive into the lyrics of "They don't care about us". He uses the words kike and Jew within this song, but if you took a millisecond to listen to the WHOLE context of the song you would get the true and greater meaning of the song. Michael was the world greatest humanitarian activist that acted on EVERYONE'S behalf, and when he saw wrong being done he acted on it the most powerful way possible. He knew he had a voice that people would listen to, so he wrote a song for the world to hear.
What saddens my heart evertime I listen to the song is his line that states:
"I'm tired of bein' the victim of shame
They're throwing me in a class with a bad name
I can't believe this is the land from which I came"
What I get from that is the deeper meaning of what Michael was personally experiencing from the hateful media and cynical public. Can you tell me the last time he made the effort to put a tour together for the US? There is a reason why he toured everywhere else in the world but the US.
I don't know about you, but that pisses me off!! I do not have a lot of money, so I did not have the luxury to fly to Japan to see him perform. This is one of the greatest heartaches I suffer from. I hate the US media for this exact reason. Every opportunity they had to criticize Michael they took it without giving it a second thought. They only had one thought and that was "MONEY". If you have never heard Michael's song 'Money' before, I suggest you give it a listen and listen CLOSELY. For now, I have provided a link to Michael's "They don't care about us" video for your enjoyment.
Listen to his words closely. Michael has never been one to write meaningless songs.
They Don't Care About Us lyrics
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, aggravation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
Bang bang, shot dead
Everybody's gone mad
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
Beat me, hate me
You can never break me
Will me, thrill me
You can never kill me
Jew me, Sue me
Everybody do me
Kick me, Kike me
Don't you black or white me
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
Tell me what has become of my life
I have a wife and two children who love me
I am the victim of police brutality, now
I'm tired of bein' the victim of hate
You're rapin' me of my pride
Oh, for God's sake
I look to heaven to fulfill its prophecy...
Set me free
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
trepidation, speculation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
black man, black mail
Throw your brother in jail
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
Tell me what has become of my rights
Am I invisible because you ignore me?
Your proclamation promised me free liberty, now
I'm tired of bein' the victim of shame
They're throwing me in a class with a bad name
I can't believe this is the land from which I came
You know I do really hate to say it
The government don't wanna see
But if Roosevelt was livin'
He wouldn't let this be, no, no
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, speculation
Everybody litigation
Beat me, bash me
You can never trash me
Hit me, kick me
You can never get me
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
Some things in life they just don't wanna see
But if Martin Luther was livin'
He wouldn't let this be
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, segregation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
Kick me, Kike me
Don't you wrong or right me
